I shared my thoughts with Investor’s Business Daily about whether it is a good idea to use Target Date Funds to save for retirement. Target date funds provide a diversified portfolio that will rebalance itself to fit the investor’s age as time goes by, so investors may feel like they can take the hands-off approach after they purchase the target date funds. However, the target date funds are not customized to the investors’ specific situation and basically imply that age is the only factor that determines the portfolio mix.
